Skill of Stress in person with Emily Hightower at Oak Park Crossfit LA

Who is this for: Athletes and coaches, wellness seekers, therapists, Yoga teachers and practitioners, those who want to understand trauma better, and people in recovery.

Why is it that a certain breath protocol can feel good one day and cause anxiety on another? Learn the keys to the castle of your nervous system to understand the dynamics of breath in your own body. This will give you a lifelong ability to reframe stress as an opportunity. We’ll also explore the mechanics of reading and regulating state through the visual and vestibular system, neurological patterns, and interoceptive awareness.

Over a full day together, we will breathe, move, and explore principles from ancient pranayama yoga breathing with modern neuroscience and exercise physiology. This day will help you meet the stress of our times with stability and choice. We’ll break through anxiety, depression, overstimulation patterns, and disconnection using a science-based, playful, non-dogmatic approach.

Leave this day refreshed, reconnected, and prepared to apply the Skill of Stress in daily life at work, in relationships, and for expanding performance and healing. This is for yogis, athletes, stressed-out executives and entrepreneurs, people who’ve experienced trauma or substance abuse, and anyone feeling ready to become stable participants in their healing and evolution.

Plan on arriving by 7:30am so you can find parking and sign in as we start at 8:00am

Sunday August 28th, 2022

8:00 – 10:00 Reading your Window of Tolerance through the body, brain, breath, and belly

10:00 – 12:00 – Regulate State part 1: breath elements and basic inquiries

Noon Lunch, (45 min) While we encourage you to bring a packed lunch, there are dozens of excellent food choices all within a mile+ of Crossfit LA.

12:45 – 1:45 Regulate State part 2: In-depth insights on panic, energy demands, and deep nervous system resets

2:00 – 4:00 Reinforce State – The power of patterns and how to own your practice for life. Concluding with Emily leading you through a profoundly relaxing Neuro Nidra session, blending Yoga Nidra with principles from neuroscience.

4:00 – 5:00 is for you to ask Emily questions on everything presented. This is always a highlight, and we strongly encourage you to stay for it.
